Heat Transfer Vinyl, or HTV for short, can be used on certain fabrics and materials to create designs and promotional products. It is often used to decorate or personalize T-shirts, hoodies, jerseys, garments and other fabric items. HTV comes in a roll or sheet form with an?adhesive?backing so it can be cut, weeded, and placed on a?substrate?for heat application. When heat pressed with sufficient time, temperature and pressure, the HTV can be permanently transferred to your garment.

By using a transfer film designed for textile graphics, you can cut and weed detailed graphics and then apply them to the textile using a heat press. Heat transfer films containing PVC cannot be cut by laser because PVC produces harmful fumes during the laser cutting process. However, the fact is that most heat transfer films are not vinyl at all, but consist of a polyurethane based material. This material responds very well to laser processing. And, in recent years, polyurethane-based materials have also improved and no longer contain lead or phthalates, which not only means easier laser cutting, but also safer products for people to wear.
